STYLIST LEVEL DESCRIPTIONS

Master Stylist

Our highest level of stylist with exceptional skill at their craft and have the largest demand for their time behind the chair. They’ve put in the time, energy, and education necessary to earn their title. Typically, with 10+ years of experience, extensive training, and many thousands of hours behind the salon chair, they are truly the best -of the-best and are going to deliver advanced hair cutting and color techniques that are custom to each guest. Many of these professionals are educators in our salons and inspire their teammates and empower their guests to embrace their authenticity.

Senior Stylist

These stylist have accumulated a great amount of experience typically 5-10 years behind the chair and are well equipped to offer more advanced solutions for hair color. They’re also proficient in advanced hair cutting techniques that are custom to everyone they work with. They are problem solvers and committed to ongoing education to keep them at the forefront of new techniques and trends.

Junior Stylist

For guests that are looking for excellent service while staying within a beauty budget. These stylists are well versed in the knowledge of Aveda Cutting and Color while still building their professional abilities. This level typically has 2-5 years of experience in the industry, have graduated from a cosmetology program and continue their education internally and within the Aveda network.

Stylist Assistant

Everyone on our hair team is a licensed cosmetologist including assistants and those right out of school need to continue their education to develop their skills. While doing the basics like assisting our stylist with basics like shampooing, cleaning and organizing they are also learning. A requirement is to attend our in-house training program that takes place weekly and covers a wide range of topics from technical to guest experience. It can take 6-12 months to complete this program taking time and dedication placing a high value on details and being comfortable and confident. They are challenged to put themselves outside their comfort zone and attack challenges head-on, ask for help and seek feedback. Every assistant must complete a scheduled technical before becoming a stylist in our books.
